HOPEWELL BLEND

This is our take on Moka Java—the world's oldest coffee blend, dating back over 500 years to when trade ships mixed coffees from Yemen and Java en route to Europe. We've modernized the formula but kept the principle: pair fruity, wine-like coffee from Africa with earthy, heavy-bodied coffee from Indonesia.

Our version uses two parts dry-process Ethiopian Dogo Sodu and one part wet-hulled Sumatra Gegarang Aulia. The ratio leans fruit-forward—jammy blueberry and plum from the Ethiopian dominates, while the Sumatra provides earthy depth, dark chocolate undertones, and substantial body that keeps the fruit from feeling one-dimensional.

Roasted to Full City, this blend achieves something neither origin could alone. The Ethiopian supplies the complexity and aromatics—jasmine florals, tenadam herb, jammy sweetness. The Sumatra anchors it with brooding earthiness, mulling spice, and thick, satiny texture. It's a study in contrasts that somehow makes sense.

Why "Hopewell": Named for Hopewell Road—one of Milton's oldest thoroughfares—this blend connects our hyperlocal focus to coffee's global heritage. Like the road itself, it's rooted in history but relevant today.

Roast Level: Full City

Tasting Notes: Blueberry jam, dark chocolate, earthy spice, jasmine, tobacco

Who This Is For: Coffee enthusiasts who want complexity. Anyone bored with single-note coffees. People who like the idea of drinking something with 500 years of history behind it—but modernized, cleaned up, and roasted fresh this week.

Fair Warning: This is expressive coffee with strong personality. If you prefer straightforward, uncomplicated blends, start with our Providence Blend. If you want something layered and interesting, this is it.
